Project Naomi
Helping Jewish People Return to Their Ancient Homeland
Golda
Meir once said about living in Israel, “Being a Jew is no problem
here.” Golda was absolutely right. Setting aside all the current
debates about borders and boundaries, the land of Israel represents an
oasis of hope for almost every Jewish person in the world. It is the
one place on the face of the earth where everyone agrees that in
Israel, “being a Jew is no problem.”
Yet, many Jewish
people will never experience this freedom and fulfilled hope without
our help. At Mosaic one of our core values is to practically care for
Jewish people. Like the Apostle Paul we earnestly care and pray for the
Jewish people and the nation of Israel (Rom 9:1-5; 10:1). That is why
Mosaic Fellowship Calgary, a non-profit, Christian Congregation has
decided to launch Project Naomi. Based off the biblical matriarch
Naomi, a Jewish woman living outside of her ancient homeland, needing
the help of her daughter-in-law to return back home to Israel. We, like
Ruth, want to help Jewish families who wish to return home.
Project
Naomi’s mission is to help Jewish people return to their ancient
homeland, Israel. In 2009, a total of 16,200 Jewish people made aliyah
(Modern Hebrew Expression for “Returning Home”) from all over the world
and 3, 767 were from here in North America. Further, North American
aliya is bound to keep growing because immigration has never been
easier: Israel has finally gotten the bureaucratic process right
through the advent of several key organizations. At the same time,
amazing Anglo communities like Modiin and Ramat Beit Shemesh have
sprouted up, making absorption to life in Israel a walk in an
ever-more-manicured park.
Together, we can help
thousands of Jewish people return home. You may be wondering, how will
project Naomi help Jewish people to return to their ancient homeland?
Good question. Project Naomi is working hand-in-hand with the Cyrus
Foundation, an organization that helps Jewish people purchase tickets
to Israel, cover moving costs and initial living expenses. The Cyrus
Foundation has an impeccable track record and we are proud to work with
this agency. Also, you may be wondering, how can I help a Jewish person
return home? There are three easy steps. First, join with us in prayer
as we seek the Lord to advance the cause of Project Naomi. Second, find
out more about Project Naomi by visiting with Elisheva Roos, Project
Naomi Director. Last, consider contributing $25.00, $50.00, $100.00 on
a monthly basis for one year or making a one-time donation. Finally,
you may be asking yourself, given the turmoil in the Middle-East,
should I help a Jewish person return home? Yes! Thousands of upstanding
Jewish people are waiting to return home with the hope of finding a
lasting peace between the Israelis and their Arab neighbors. Without
any exaggeration, now is one of the best times in history to help
Jewish people return home.
If you are interested in
